Vegan Hell

You control Orpheus, who was a vegan and when the devil got to this bit in his former life... he was furious. As the devil is a sentient raspberry he put Orpheus to a special trial:

"Feed the monsters with your precious fruits and they will wither and die. But feed them meaty products, and they will become stronger! If they catch you, you are dead! AGAIN! BWAHAHAHA!"

Fortunately Orpheus has his trustworthy hardhat and hard boots:

JUMP, or press DOWN while in midair to fall and hit platforms, like the golden platform with food in it. But watch out for the metronome! At every 4th beat the food type changes in them!

As you get rid of monsters every 9th kill will yield a power-up that further helps you:

Power of Liva     

This power-up gives Orpheus 3 lives when low on health, 2 when in the middle and 1 when near to full. This also means more points!

Power of Vega    

This power-up summons fruit on every monster and another 8 on the level.

Power of Waka    

This power-up turns Orpheus into a big hardhat! Hunt down and eat monsters, eat food for double speed and score up!

"Can you keep up with the ever faster monsters?"

For HEJ game jam January 2025, I used the themes "vegan" and "your favorite music" (out of 4 themes). I do like classical music and I used midi versions of classical pieces and swapped the instruments to chip sounds, but I kept the midi track mixed under the new version, with changed instruments and with lower volume.

CONTROLS:

Keyboard:

WASD or Arrows: move left-right, S or Down to power fall (Orpheus only), S or Down to move downwards and W or Up to move upwards (Waka form)

Space or CTRL: Jump (Orpheus only)

To exit a level, press ESC repeatedly

Controller:

Dpad: move left-right, Down to power fall (Orpheus only), Down to move downwards and Up to move upwards (Waka form)

A: Jump (Orpheus only)

To exit a level, press BACK repeatedly
